Engage your Rotary Members to become Rotarians
Rotary 101 is a program that is based on the the book, “A Century of Service,” written by David C. Forward. It combines these readings with interesting information that your past presidents compile about each individual club, its history, traditions, and special place in the community.
The vision is to enhance the knowledge of each Rotary member so he or she will:
- Better understand what it means to be a Rotarian, and
- Be more excited about the values and worthiness of Rotary International
There is a model designed for large clubs and another model for small clubs.
It’s a year-long program; each week covers two of the 22 chapters of the book. The program culminates in a graduation ceremony where the grads testify about their experience in the program and what they learned that will make them a Super Rotarian. This makes recruiting the next class a “no-brainer.”
Each club decides whether to hold one or two presentations each month. The originator, Long Beach Rotary Club, offers the same program one-half hour before and one-half hour after the general meeting each month. Class members come at the time that is most convenient for them that month.
Presenters can be past presidents or and other Rotarians who are leaders in the community. They need only to make certain they are familiar with the two chapters they will present, compile important information that relates about their club and have reviewed the lesson plan for those chapters.
The instructions for developing a successful Rotary 101 are easy to use.
Each lesson has an individual lesson plan and all the necessary documents to conduct the class. Each set of lesson plan tells you what they are used for and when to use them.
IT’S FUN…IT’S EASY TO USE…IT MAKES YOUR MEMBERS BECOME ENGAGED

A Message from John Zahn, who conceived and implemented Rotary 101 in Long Beach, California.
“After seeing the difference Rotary 101 made in our club, I’m loving the opportunity to share this program with other clubs and districts of the Rotary world. Someday I hope it will be an integral part of Rotary International.
I think the simple concept of using this well written book, “Century of Service” of the history of Rotary International, combined with information about your specific club and its accomplishments, makes a stronger foundations for all Rotarians, regardless of how long they’ve been a member. My long term goal is that all Rotary members will become Super Rotarians so we have an even greater impact on the world.”
