If you live or do business in the Long Beach area, we’d love to consider you for membership in the Long Beach Rotary Club.

Rotary is a leadership organization made up of local business, professional and civic leaders. Becoming a member enables you to get to know each other, form friendships, and through that we are able to get things done in our community, region and in the world.

As a global network that strives to build a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change, Rotary values diversity and celebrates the contributions of people of all backgrounds, regardless of their age, ethnicity, race, color, abilities, religion, socioeconomic status, culture, sex, sexual orientation, and gender identity. Rotary will cultivate a diverse, equitable, and inclusive culture in which people from underrepresented groups have greater opportunities to participate as members and leaders.

Long Beach Rotary Membership

Guest Greeter Table

In order to provide the most welcoming atmosphere to new members visiting the Long Beach Rotary Club the Guest Greeter Table is the first thing they see when entering the meeting space. They are given a guest badge, often assigned a current member to sit with and given any information about meeting logistics that they require.

Information Meeting

An Information Meeting is held every other month at a member’s home to help inform prospective members of our clubs activities. Each avenue of service is explained, allowing potential members to see the range of the Long Beach Rotary activities, and to experience the friendship and fellowship of belonging to a club of this type.

Member Mentoring

A strong part of retention is new member mentoring. Research shows the more members are involved in Rotary activities, the more committed and connected they become to their fellow members, their club and the organization. Each new member is assigned a current member to help them find what projects or activities interest them and to get them involved in an active role so that they immediately feel a sense of connection to the club. To enhance the integration of new Rotarians into Long Beach Rotary a mentor provides experience, consulting and personal support.

Outreach

The ideal composition of a Rotary Club reflects the community’s demographics, including professions, gender, age, and ethnicity. Such diversity enriches every aspect of the club’s fellowship and service.

Recruitment

To keep clubs strong, every Rotarian must share the responsibility of bringing new people into Rotary. Invite guests to meetings or invite them to participate in a service project. The value of Rotary speaks for itself, and the best way to engage the interest of potential members is by letting them experience fellowship and service first hand. Every club needs new members in order to be vibrant and active. New members introduce new ideas, bring fresh perspectives and extend your club’s reach in the community.

Retention

Keeping members interested in Rotary is another responsibility of every Rotarian but in particular the Membership Committee. Good club fellowship, early involvement in service projects, and involvement in club operations are some of the best ways to sustain the club’s membership. Many membership requirements are designed to help members become and remain active participants in their clubs, and enjoy their Rotary Experience.
